A Look at Our Special Night with Tech Leaders at Goldman Sachs

While PowerToFly has supported Goldman Sachs' diversity and inclusion efforts for the past several years, we were excited that this December, we hosted our first live event together at Goldman Sachs' office in NYC's Financial District.

Goldman Sachs believes who you are makes you better at what you do, which is one of the reasons why PowerToFly loves working with them. For Goldman Sachs, it's all about bringing together people who are curious, collaborative, and have the drive to make things possible for their clients and communities.

This special one-night-only gathering was hosted by PowerToFly CEO Milena Berry and kicked off with ample networking time over passed hors d'oeuvres. The programming officially got underway with inspiring opening remarks by Goldman Sachs' Sinead Strain, Managing Director.

Next up, members of the Goldman Sachs team presented a behind-the-scenes look at one of their cutting edge products, Marquee, which provides institutional investors with leading market intelligence, risk analytics, proprietary datasets, and trade execution across multiple asset classes.

When the product demo concluded, we launched into a wide reaching panel discussion with three of Goldman Sachs' women leaders and one terrific male ally. Our speakers included:

Once the panel discussion concluded, we had enough time to take a few questions from the audience before jumping back into networking for the remainder of the night.

Here's what one attendee had to say about her experience: "I now have a different, more positive impression of the culture at Goldman Sachs."

Goldman Sachs is much more than just a financial services company. This special evening is an excellent opportunity to meet the women tech leaders and allies behind their products, get your questions answered, and network with your peers.

Goldman Sachs is hiring and you can view their open roles on their page on PowerToFly. Their benefits include competitive compensation, medical advocacy services, on-site child care centers in some offices, and flexible work policies.

Guests meet with members of the Goldman Sachs team before the event kicks off.

How These Companies Are Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

According to a recent study, anti-Asian hate crimes have risen 150% since the pandemic started. But these acts of violence are not new — they are part of a much larger history of anti-Asian racism and violence in the U.S.

That makes celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (which was named a month-long celebration in May by Congress in 1992 "to coincide with two important milestones in Asian/Pacific American history: the arrival in the United States of the first Japanese immigrants on May 7, 1843 and contributions of Chinese workers to the building of the transcontinental railroad, completed May 10, 1869") this year all the more important.

LGBTQIA+ Inclusion In The Workplace

As we celebrate Pride this month, we should also take time to reflect about the practices— or lack thereof— at our companies that help to support and empower members of the LGBTQIA+ community all year round. (LGBTQIA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual. There are other variants of this acronym such as LGBT, LGBTQ, and LGBTQQIP2SAA, which all refer to the same community.)

From the Stonewall Uprising to the United States' Equality Act, we've come a long way, but the staggering statistics around the LGBTQIA+ community in the workplace tell us that there is still work to be done.
