On April 30, PowerToFly was thrilled to present our first-ever event in the UK and our sixth event (and counting!) with American Express.
Held in London near Victoria Station, the night was hosted by PowerToFly's co-founder Katharine Zaleski and featured a tech talk, panel discussion and plenty of opportunities for our guests to network with their peers, while also getting free headshots taken!
The evening officially kicked off with a keynote address by Katrina Roberts, SVP and Unit CIO, Global Commercial Services Technology, at American Express and a twenty-seven year veteran of the company. Katrina was also the keynote speaker at PowerToFly's previous event with American Express in New York, so it was a thrill to hear again how American Express has changed and shaped her life.
Next up, our guests were greeted with a tech demo, led by Siobhan Shea, Senior Java Engineer and REST API Designer. One attendee summed it up perfectly by saying, "Siobhan was awesome!"
The centerpiece of the evening was an in-depth panel discussion that saw Katrina joined by fellow woman tech leader Vanessa Hackett, Vice President, Software Engineering, and male ally Colin Allen, Vice President, Digital Workplace and Global Infrastructure. Our panel discussed their current projects and career journeys, and answered questions from the audience.
