Hi, who are you?

I'm Kenyatta M. Walton

What do you do at Match?

Currently, I'm Manager of Accounting. Mainly responsible for the International P&L and Affinity Brands.

Haven't you had like 6 jobs since you started?

Let's see, I started out as an AP Contractor, then AP Lead, Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, AP Manager and Accounting Manager. So you're right….6!

How long have you been here?

6 positions in 12 years.

What keeps you at Match?

The flexibility on when I can arrive to work. The fact that I can wear whatever I want to wear, within reason. The ability to be able to manage my responsibilities without a lot structure/direction/micro-management and constant growth opportunities.

Did you just go to Brazil?

Yes, I just got back from Rio. I did a site visit at ParPerfeito for work. They are our dating business in Brazil.

Cool! Where else have you been with Match?

Rio was my 3rd business trip. My first trip was a tri-city trip (NY/LA/Vancouver). My 2nd trip was to LA.

Wow, so what makes an accountant successful here?

A successful accountant at Match is someone that knows how to manage up. Meaning, they know how to own the processes they are responsible for. They know how to make connections with others in the office. Face to face is very important, not just communicating via electronic means. I think being visible and building relationships is very important.

Work hard or play hard?

Lately (b/c I'm single) I was working hard. But I recently met someone so I think it's time for me to play hard.

On Match?

Met at the airport on my way to Rio for my work trip! Well, we met on the flight from Dallas to Miami…

Congrats! What's your dream vacation spot?

There are so many places to choose from. One place on my list is Barcelona.

What's your favorite time of year?

Fall…October

What's your favorite TV show?

Right now, I'm listening to Suits. When I'm home my favorite show has been This Is Us.

What's better, a good movie or a good TV series?

A good movie. The last good movie I saw was Black Panther.

iOS or Android?

iOS….of course

How These Companies Are Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

According to a recent study, anti-Asian hate crimes have risen 150% since the pandemic started. But these acts of violence are not new — they are part of a much larger history of anti-Asian racism and violence in the U.S.

That makes celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (which was named a month-long celebration in May by Congress in 1992 "to coincide with two important milestones in Asian/Pacific American history: the arrival in the United States of the first Japanese immigrants on May 7, 1843 and contributions of Chinese workers to the building of the transcontinental railroad, completed May 10, 1869") this year all the more important.
