📼 When writing a resume for STEM jobs, keep the following two tips in mind: tailor your resume to the job description and utilize metrics. If a description uses keywords, add those to your resume. Metrics show what you’ve done and what you’ve accomplished. You can explain what policy you implemented, what was the goal or the outcome of that policy, and how did you reach or exceed those goals and outcomes.
📼 STEM jobs interview process at Zapier generally focuses on two things. One is alignment with the company’s core values, and two is evidence of the skills necessary to do the job that you're applying for. At Zapier, they have a unique application process where you are not required to upload a traditional resume. However, they do have a list of questions that they ask you to answer. They put less weight on prior experience or prior job titles, versus the experience that you're bringing to the table.
Look For STEM Jobs in Companies Aligned With Who You Are
Zapier has five core values. The first is ‘Default to action’. Since they’re in a remote environment, it's very important that when they see a problem, they immediately take action on that problem. The second is ‘Default to transparency’. Everyone must be transparent and very open about everything that is going on in the company. The third value is ‘Grow through feedback’. Feedback is very important because Zapier is always looking for ways that they can improve and do better as a company and as individuals. The fourth value is ‘Empathy over ego’, and the fifth value is ‘Build the robot’. And that's because Zapier is on a mission to make automation work for everyone.
